Ardbeg Uigeadail voted Best Whisky 2009
Ardbeg Uigeadail–a single malt whisky from Ardbeg Distillery on the remote island of Islay–has been named Best Whisky in the world 2009 by Jim Murray. The renowned expert nosed and tasted some 1,500 whiskies, describing Ardbeg Uigeadail as “mind bogglingly complex” and “quite simply perfect”.
Introduced in 2003, Ardbeg Uigeadail takes its name from the loch which supplies the peat-laden water to the distillery, and is famed for a deep, smoky complexity. With a powerful ABV, it is the peatiest, smokiest of all Islay malts, renowned for its delicious sweetness, which has become known as ‘the peaty paradox’.
