Forty-two exceptional automobiles set off from the Place Casino in Monte-Carlo on April 24 headed for Venice, La Serenissima. The magnificent 1,400-kilometer route takes the contenders through across the Alps and along the banks of four of the most beautiful Alpine lakes. Among the cars in the running are a 1913 Isotta Fraschini—the oldest—along with the Giugiaro Brivido, a hybrid coupe with sleek, futuristic lines.
Before the winners motor into the City of the Doges on April 28, the vintage vehicles will stop in Menthon-Saint-Bernard, Stresa, Verona and Fiesso d’Artico, home to Louis Vuitton workshops, at which time the trunkmaker will showcase its expertise in exquisite creations for automobile travel. Louis Vuitton made the first trunks designed specially to be fitted at the rear of automobiles in 1897.
