During a Gala on December 9 at the French Institute Alliance Française in New York, the creative director of Louis Vuitton was awarded the Trophée des Arts for his exceptional contribution to French fashion. The award was presented by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and is awarded each year to a distinguished artist or cultural icon for outstanding contribution to the French-American contribution.

The most Francophile of American designers, Marc Jacobs is the founder of his eponymous label and creative director of Louis Vuitton since 1997. He was also honored this year with the honorary title "Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres", as well as his ninth CFDA Award (Council of Fashion Designers of America) for womenswear designer of the year in New York.
