"No Dior,
no Dietrich!"

To the delight of Dior lovers and movie fans, the Christian Dior Museum presents a new exhibition entitled “Stars in Dior, from the Screen to the Streets”. Sketches, photographs from the past, scripts and mythic scenes combine to recreate the heady atmosphere of screen gems. “Quiet on the set…!”

Even before the creation of his eponymous couture house in 1947, Christian Dior put his talent to work as a costume designer for the cinema. The stars quickly decided they could not appear without his creations. Marlène Dietrich famously demanded that Christian Dior design her costumes for Alfred Hitchcock’s Stage Fright, uttering an ultimatum that would become legendary in the House of Dior: “No Dior, no Dietrich!”

The high point of the exhibition is a series of sublime gowns worn by some of the cinema’s greatest actresses, past and present. The exhibition runs from May 12 to September 23, 2012 at the Christian Dior Museum in Granville.
