For three weeks, the Jardin d’Acclimatation will celebrate the 15th edition of Printemps des Poètes (Poets spring), inviting lovers of rhyme and everyone else to enjoy the gardens against a backdrop of well-chosen words.

Spoken, whispered or sung, poetry touches people, arousing emotion and wonderment. The public is invited to meander along “voice paths” in the gardens to discover new stanzas and rhymes. Events include readings by twenty theater students from the Cours Cochet, who will share some of the most popular poems written in French.

La Fontaine, Baudelaire, Apollinaire, Prévert and others from the poetry hit list of our youth create a soft aura of nostalgia, joined by more contemporary couplets strategically declaimed throughout the gardens. A host of surprises are in store, including the instantly recognizable voices of Annie Girardot and Fabrice Luchini reciting a few of their personal favorites.

Children are treated to poetry workshops, including painting of a collective fresco inspired by La Fontaine’s Fables, or an introduction to the art of recitation and diction. Unforgettable moments are in store during this chance to put words in poetic perspective.
