The "Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty" exhibition runs until January 9, 2011 at Somerset House in London. The exhibition is a tribute to the talented illustrator and friend of Christian Dior. René Gruau’s drawings became the advertising image of Parfums Dior beginning in 1949.
The show features 50 original artworks and advertising illustrations, as well as eight dresses chosen by John Galliano to mark emblematic themes, from the “femme fleur” to the vision shared by the artist and the couturier. The exhibition perfectly captures the mastery of lines, architectural complexity and quest for beauty that both the illustrator and Monsieur Dior achieved.
