For Fendi’s latest show, Karl Lagerfeld has embraced the notion of the hybrid - a Fendi woman who is complex, wild and chic. Brandishing intricately braided hair, the models pranced down the runway like modern day Pocahontas in high buttoned-up and laced-up boots. Wide corset-like belts accent a defined waistline while heavy furs draped from their shoulders.
This latest collection is a patchwork of chic autumnal colors and a pell-mell of beautiful materials– fur, felted and boiled wool, cashmere lined with leather, varnished jersey and precious leathers. Shagreen with its pebble-like texture is a recurring theme applied to tops, bags, and stockings which creates a surprising reptile effect.
Asymmetrical dressed made out of nappa leather are embellished with fur pockets. Skirts are fashioned out of overlapping layers of pleated folds and rough-edged leather. While some sweaters and maxi coats are adorned with sprouts of goat hair other brown felted wool coats are set off by chocolate-colored mink sleeves…For Fendi, luxury is a mischievous play on appearances.
