The 25th International Festival in Hyères, sponsored by LVMH, again revealed exciting young talents. The international springboard for young artists this year awarded prizes to Alexandra Verschueren (Belgium), Tsolmandakh Munkhuu (Mongolia), Yann Gross and Matthieu Lavanchy (both of Switzerland).

The Fashion Jury headed by Dries Van Noten awarded the Grand Prize to Alexandra Verschueren for her women’s collection inspired by Japanese origami cutting and folding techniques. Bonded to more traditional clothes, these unusual forms create volumes, textures and openwork motifs that transform the silhouette.

The City of Hyères Public Prize went to Tsolmandakh Munkhuu for an entirely black womenswear collection. Mystical and theatrical, she revisits the codes of Buddhist culture. Embroidered and cutout motifs of skeletons or skulls are combined with effects created by draping, pleats and superposition.
