“Turbulences”: the new Louis Vuitton exhibition7/23/12

Artists from eleven nationalities invite visitors on a journey to the heart of the maelstrom. For the new exhibition at the Espace Louis Vuitton, the House has assembled works that explore ways of depicting turbulence. Order and disarray are illustrated through video installations, digital imagery, sculptures and sketches.
Monochrome fresco. Loris Cecchini tossed a pebble into the water to capture the ripples and create a remarkable sculpture, a mysterious membrane on a white wall. At first glance, the sculpture seems static but a closer look creates the impression of movement.
Tantalising twister. Petroc Sesti has created a whirlpool in a crystalline sphere filled with a transparent liquid. Turbulence personified, it twists, turns and changes like a spinning top in random yet structured gyrations. The spiraling column of air and water casts a hypnotic and enchanting spell.
Louis Vuitton invites visitors to take a journey that vacillates between the real and unreal, between mediation and entertainment.
Artists: Angela Bulloch, Loris Cecchini, Miguel Chevalier, Elias Crespin, Attila Csörgo, Pascal Haudressy, Zilvinas Kempinas, Sachiko Kodama, Ryoichi Kurokawa, Petroc Sesti, Jorinde Voigt.
