Louis Vuitton capped a Paris Fashion Week full of delightful surprises. Marc Jacobs invited guests to the lobby of a grand hotel, an elegant and mysterious décor straight out of a 50s film noir.

The collection itself resonated powerfully with the world of the movies. Silhouettes suspended between dressed and undressed exuded a mix of sensuality and melancholy. Accentuated by a range of muted colors tinged with gray, the pieces had an intensely nostalgic feel.

Marc Jacobs masterfully blurred the borders between interior and exterior, borrowing a man’s coat to be worn on bare skin like a bathrobe. Negligees, generally reserved to the intimacy of the bedroom, morphed into dresses. Fluid satin and delicate lace were warmed—this is a winter collection after all—by touches of fur.
