t the 2005 Basel fair, TAG Heuer presented the Calibre 360 Concept Chronograph, the first mechanical chronograph to measure and display time to the nearest 1/100th of a second. During the 2006 fair, collectors will catch their first glimpse of the Carrera Calibre 360 Pink Gold, which will soon be available as a limited edition of just 360 models.
The Carrera Calibre 360 Pink Gold Limited Edition pays homage to the strong ties that TAG Heuer has long forged with automobile racing and to the magnificent Carrera collection. Initially marketed in 1964, the first Carrera model takes its name from the prestigious Carrera Panamericana automobile race, won by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio.
In keeping with TAG Heuer’s chronographs of the time, this new model gives pride of place to sobriety and simplicity: a wide start/stop push buttom, a prominent fluted crown, a chronograph running reserve of 100 minutes to 12 hours, and an enlarged counter going from 1/100th of a second to 6 hours.
Thanks to this new limited edition, the Calibre 360’s movement boasts a refined design that allies sumptuous materials and the House’s legendary craftsmanship: an elegant chocolate-colored guilloché dial enhanced by a hand-fitted index and hands in 18-carat pink gold, with an 18-carat pink gold case. The caseback, with its saphire crystal, affords a view of the dazzling creation finely decorated by Côtes de Genève, upon which the movement’s name is engraved.
Mounted on a chocolate-colored alligator bracelet that is hand sewn, the Carrera Calibre 360 Pink Gold Limited Edition will be available at the end of April.
