A fervent advocate of contemporary modes of expression, the artist is known for fiberglass sculptural figures inspired by manga comics. The tribute at MOCA spans over 90 works that retrace his career.
The Louis Vuitton store in the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is the work of French designer Jean-Marc Gady. It is shaped like a white cube whose walls serve as projection screens. In this white space the only touch of color comes from the products—some on display, others for sale. A total of 24 bags reflect Takashi Murakami's collaboration with Louis Vuitton, from the Monogram Multicolore to the Monogram Cherry Blossom.

Takashi Murakami revisited several Louis Vuitton classics exclusively for the exhibition, including the Neverfull bag and round Monogram canvas coin purse, both with a special 'LV Hands' print. There is also a special edition diary cover printed with a Murakami character called Chibi Kinoko (Little Mushroom). The artist also signed a Marilyn trunk, available exclusively at the exhibition.
The creation of this unique store within the exhibition underlines Louis Vuitton's commitment to remaining faithful to its heritage while continually celebrating the brand's contemporary resonance.
