16th LVMH Young Artist's Awards © DR |
he theme of the 16th LVMH Young Artists' Awards is a "Tribute to Picasso". The competition has been launched in conjunction with the "Picasso and the Masters" exhibition being held simultaneously at the Galeries nationales du Grand Palais, the Musée du Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay until February 2, 2009.
Students from art schools in France and around the world wishing to participate are asked to submit a work that illustrates the theme "Painting Against".
The theme was selected by Anne Baldassari, Director and Curator of the Musée Picasso in Paris and Curator of this exhibition, which has been put together thanks to support from LVMH Moët Hennessy - Louis Vuitton.
Six winners will be selected by the jury. Each will receive a €4,270 scholarship and a round trip plane ticket enabling them to study for several months at an art school in France or another country.
Since its creation in 1994, the LVMH Young Artists' Awards have enabled over 120 students from France and other countries to study at art schools in another country. Many of the past winners have gone on to promising artistic careers.
This competition is one of many initiatives supported by LVMH to encourage education and training for young people.
