he Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton is featuring an exhibition entitled "Confusion of the Senses" until January 10, 2010.

The Espace Louis Vuitton continues to invite contemporary artists from around the world to share their vision of a theme that resonates powerfully with the Maison, that of journeys. This tenth exhibition proposes an unprecedented approach, investigating the inner journey.

"Confusion of the Senses" is an invitation to a personal immersion in order to gain not only a better understanding of ourselves, but also a better grasp of the complexity of the world around us.

Laurent Saksik’s "Atoll" is a installation consisting of two transparent two-meter square cubes with live video projections on the bottom of the perpetually changing Paris sky. While gazing as clouds float from one cube to the next visitors can reflect on space and time.

The "Traumatèque" by Berdaguer & Péjus invites visitors to "get rid" of a  "trauma" by virtually recording it on a VHS tape.

Visitors sit and follow the instructions of a hypnotist on headphones, recalling a painful episode from their past. As they visualize it mentally, a recorder "captures" the memory. Aided by a projection screen showing white noise, visitors are plunged into an ersatz hypnotic state. The projection is materialized by a cassette that can be dated and named before being catalogued alongside the others in the Traumathèque.

Véronique Joumard’s work revolves around her favorite theme, light. "Orange" is like a burst of sun with which visitors interact thanks to thermosensitive pigments that make the painting react and change when exposed to sources of warmth such as the human body.

The exhibition includes five other invitations to journeys via works and installations by Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, Didier Fiuza, Faustino and Laurent Grasso. With each successive sensory experience, the new exhibition at the Espace culturel Louis Vuitton upends perceptions and certainties…
