Company overview

When Joseph Krug founded his Reims-based Champagne house in 1843, his vision was to delight and exceed the expectations of consumers by achieving the exceptional. Passionate as he was, he took traditional Champagne production techniques beyond anything known at the time.

Since then, six generations of the Krug family have honed and enriched the philosophy of the company's founder. Krug has stayed true to its reputation as a Grande Maison de Champagne and is the only Champagne house specializing exclusively in the production of 'cuvées de prestige', or top-of-the-range proprietary blended Champagnes.

Krug Grande Cuvée is the embodiment of what Joseph strived to offer his customers — the most generous expression of what a fine Champagne can be, with a truly exceptional degree of finesse. It is blended from around 120 wines of at least 10 different vintages, some of which may have been cellared for up to 15 years in the company's remarkable library of reserve wines.

It is thanks to this meticulous blending of so many wines and vintages that Krug Grande Cuvée acquires such a rich palette of aromas and its unique elegance. Over 20 years are needed to create a bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée — the first cuvée de prestige to be recreated each year, transcending the very notion of vintage.

Krug Vintage, Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay take the individuality of wines to a new level, uniquely conveying the history of a particular vintage or the distinctive characteristics of a vineyard and its terroir.
