For our California workshop in San Dimas, we are seeking a Human Resources Director (HRD). Reporting directly to the General Manager of the California workshops, this role will provide strategic and hands-on support across all facets of HR.  The HRD will serve a key advisor and partner to the California General Manager and Leadership Team and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management, ensuring compliance with employment laws, championing a people-first culture, and supporting Louis Vuitton U.S. Manufacturing, Inc.’s overall business objectives.  This role includes leading a team of HR professionals across two California manufacturing workshops and partnering with international HR counterparts to ensure consistency and alignment across global teams.

Job responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, and lead the HR department across two workshops; recruit, interview, hire, and train team members; coach and mentor team members through the process of understanding the needs and responsibilities of HR within a large multi-national organization.
  • Administer or oversee the administration of HR programs including, but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters and termination; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; workers’ compensation, safety, and the return-to-work program; and recruitment, training, and development.
  • Collaborate with Leadership Team, Legal Department, and other departments to provide advice, counsel, recommendations, and decisions on HR management practices, and to align HR strategies with business objectives related to recruitment, retention, company culture, and training programs.
  • Work closely with management and employees to provide consultation and guidance to improve work relationships, address and resolve disputes, handle employee concerns, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Guide management and employee actions by developing HR guidelines, communicating the guidelines, and enforcing organization values.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve and update HR policies, procedures, programs, and processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and alignment with Company goals; assist in their dissemination through employee handbooks, communications, and/or meetings; communicate changes and ensure proper compliance is followed.
  • Ensure the maintenance of employee records including, but not limited to, offer letters, termination records, attendance records, discipline records, employee performance appraisal records, timekeeping, payroll records, and work schedules.
  • Monitor and ensure the Company’s compliance with all applicable California, federal, and local employment laws, including the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA); recommend policy updates and best practices to maintain legal adherence; consult with in-house Legal department on matters of legal importance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate and advise on changes in policy, practice, and resources to senior leadership.
  • Champion the development, implementation, and maintenance of a workplace culture that aligns with the Company’s values and promotes collaborations, innovation, accountability, and employee satisfaction and successes.
  • Execute HR initiatives, including employee engagement surveys and action plans, to support organizational effectiveness and workforce satisfaction.
  • Develop HR operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Collaborate with international counterparts to limit workplace issues due to the multiculture nature of our business; demonstrate understanding of cultural norms, traditions, and working with diverse teams.
  • Maintain minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
  • Plus additional responsibilities as required.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of dynamic HR experience resulting in a well-rounded expertise (i.e., within Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, Talent Development, Employee Engagement, and Employee Relations), preferably in the manufacturing or distribution industries.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or PHRca) preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required (written and spoken); French language skills is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of California and federal employment laws, codes, and regulations, including wage and hour, leave entitlements, and employment practices
  • Experience with workers compensation, return-to-work programs, and related compliance initiatives
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and train individuals and teams
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and levels of leadership; demonstrated experience managing change, driving initiatives, and guiding teams through transformation
  • People-oriented mindset and client-focused business acumen, with the ability to act as a strategic business partner to the General Manager, Leadership Team, Legal Department, and Employee Relations Department
  • Excellent knowledge of HR management principles, best practices, and emerging trends
  • Skilled in strategic thinking, workforce planning, and aligning HR initiatives with organizational goals
  • Ability to transition effectively between high-level strategy and immediate, practical execution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with strong presentation capabilities and the ability to influence and interact effectively with employees at all levels
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management; capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to delegate, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Cultural competence and experience working with diverse and international teams
  • Flexible, ethical, and responsive, with the ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the Company and its employees
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, including providing project support to the payroll team when needed

 

The appointed candidate will be offered a salary within the range of USD$150,000 - $225,000 annually, plus the opportunity for a bonus, comprehensive benefits package including:  medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, various paid time off programs, employee discount/perks and retirement plans with employer contribution.
