Hublot showcased new timepieces for professionals and watch aficionados at Baselworld 2018. The first luxury brand to team with the world of football, Hublot presents the Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia connected watch, designed specially for referees at the upcoming tournament, along with the Big Bang Sapphire Tourbillon, featuring stunning crystalline mechanics. For 2018, Hublot continues to introduce even more innovative materials. The watchmaker’s Big Bang Sapphire Tourbillon is made from sapphire, making it completely transparent. For the first time, the skeleton movement and see-through connections are revealed through “invisibility”, where only a few metallic gears sketch out the contours. The case, dial, strap and movement are all transparent for this remarkable creation, manufactured in a limited edition of just 99 pieces. In another major innovation, Hublot has created an intensely vibrant red ceramic for the Big Bang Red Ceramic, a watch that truly stands out.

2018 is also of course the year of the FIFA World Cup! As Official Timekeeper for this international event, Hublot has applied its bold innovation to design the first connected football watch, made in a limited edition of only 2,018 pieces: the Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. Featuring the emblematic Big Bang architecture (titanium crown, six H-shaped screws, kevlar insert), the 49-mm watch has been customized for match referees and will be connected to the goal-line technology used during the tournament.

To celebrate the event Hublot organized a Friendly Match bringing together football legends around Diego Maradona and José Mourinho, as well as a certain Usain Bolt, who took to the football pitch for the very first time! The high-profile event was a fitting prelude to football’s premier global showcase, which kicks off on June 14.
