Position

- Responsibility ensuring accurate and timely completion of all work (see below)

- Overall responsibility for the timely submission of all accounting information to HO Rome, including but not limited to:

  • Management Reporting Package (Syrus)
  • Capex reporting
  • Additional disclosures reporting (headcount, lease commitments, etc)
  • Tax reporting in Syrus
  • Equity Reconciliation

- Monthly closing review, including but not limited to:

  • Review all entries and accruals
  • Ensure accurate preparation of monthly SAP trial balances produced from SAP
  • Ensure account balances are properly reconciled and analysed

- Monthly preparation and presentation of internal management information to Finance Manager, including but not limited to:

  • Gross margin analysis by product category
  • Operating expense analysis by store

- The projects are varied in nature and include GAAP Conversions (IFRS and UK GAAP), reporting in respect of new standards

  • Specifically IFRS 16
  • IFRS 15
  • Tax reporting in Syrus

- Regular (weekly and often daily) communication with the Finance Manager to ensure awareness and management of financial issues, including but not limited to ensuring:

  • Being aware of all liabilities (both on and off balance sheet)
  • Local compliance laws are being managed (statutory accounts, tax returns, etc)
  • Cash flow forecast

- Establishing and effectively introducing systems and procedures which strengthen financial control and managing compliance thereafter. Where necessary involving the relevant people from the finance team

- Monthly update of all cost centre budgets with actual costs to ensure, on a very detailed level, we understand what has been spent on each type of expense within each cost centre (for example knowing not just what was spent on the fashion show, but each element from location rent to PR invites). Where the budget has not been spent the key is to assess whether it's a true under budget or missing invoices to be accrued


Profile

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)

  • Experience of undertaking day to day responsibilities in a 'hands-on' manner, whilst maintaining an overall 'strategic view'

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise quickly and effectively

  • Ability to analyse detailed information and to synthesize thorough insightful presentation to the Finance Manager

  • Self-driven/self-motivated approach
