The position is based in Rome. The data protection officer (DPO) is responsible for ensuring a proper governance framework from a data protection perspective across the entire FENDI Group. In particular, he/she shall procure that organization processes, personal data of the staff of the Company, customers, providers or any other individuals (also referred to as data subjects) are in compliance with the data protection rules applicable from time to time.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide information to the Company and its employees and create awareness about GDPR and data protection regulations compliance across the organization
  • Monitor GDPR compliance (this includes, without limitation, managing data protection activities, providing advice on data protection impact assessments, training staff and conducting, together with the relevant departments of the Company, internal audits)
  • Be a point of contact for supervisory authorities and individuals whose data are being processed
  • Implement, enforce update and review data protection policies and guidances
  • Update and monitor the Record of processing activities ("Registro dei trattamenti")
  • Maintain a log of data protection incidents, complaints, recommendations and actions
  • Ensure data protection impact assessments are performed and advise as necessary
  • Monitor and review compliance with legislation (must include third-party data processors)
  • Provide advice and training to staff about their responsibilities regarding data protection
  • Produce, maintain and enact a cross-functional data protection training program
  • Ensure state-of- the-art own knowledge of data protection issues, information management and related legislation
  • Provide advice on related law and other issues
  • Ensure availability of written data protection information
  • Provide consultancy services to all departments (assessing problems, queries, procedures and practices)


  • An appropriate qualification or at least 5 years of significant experience relevant to the role
  • Former experience as Compliance Officer, advisor/officer at the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali, at Guardia di Finanza or with a public administration in areas relevant for the role will be a plus
  • A thorough and demonstrable knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of practical implications of the application of data protection rules (including GDPR) and of any official guidance relating to processing of personal data
  • Ability to assess data management systems and propose upgrades or improvements as necessary or appropriate
  • Ability to manage information collection and produce a professional response
  • Communicate effectively at all levels
  • Confidence in providing advice to staff
  • A solid track record demonstrating ability to provide advice and training regarding data protection and experience in this field
  • Functional IT knowledge regarding data storage, retrieval, security and enforcement of data protection regulations
  • Perfect command of the English language
