> Advise on legal issues and help manage the legal affairs of the company in Europe, particularly in relation to the La Samaritaine project.
> He/she will be a pro-active contributor to senior management in Europe on key legal risks. He or she will work closely with the Global General Counsel and other members of the LCD team and will directly manage external legal advisers.
> Assist the LCD team in the management of intellectual property issues faced by the company including licenses and trademarks registrations.
> Take a lead role (in conjunction with outside counsel, where appropriate) in the negotiation, drafting and management of material commercial contracts, in particular those relating to retail store leases and sub-leases, food & beverage contracts, merchandise supply and other vendor agreements.
> Contribute to internal business development meetings, advise on corporate governance issues and coordinate company secretarial support.
> Alongside colleagues in Hong Kong and other experts, advise on regulatory or compliance issues impacting the business including competition laws, trade regulation and data protection.
> Assist local HR Team on employment issues, especially on immigration process
The ideal candidate will have experience of an in-house legal function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, ideally in a consumer business. Experience with top tier international law firm or multi-national corporation will be preferable.
Must be fluent in English and French, with additional Italian language skills being an advantage.
He or she will have superior negotiation and drafting skills and will work collaboratively with business unit leaders and other executives to drive the best possible outcomes for DFS with its key commercial partners, such as landlords and suppliers.
In line with its presence in Italy and France, this position is based in Paris and will be a key component to the DFS Legal and Compliance Team (LCD) reporting to the Global General Counsel in Hong Kong, to the Legal and Compliant Department of LVMH as well, and locally to the President of Europe and Middle East. This is a new role suitable to an experienced lawyer who thrives in having broad responsibility in a dynamic international environment.
LCD is currently a team of four lawyers, all based in the corporate headquarters in Hong Kong.
