The Vice President, Operations is an experienced executive who is a results-oriented leader and who has developed strong technical expertise across a range of operations functions, with a particular emphasis on manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, engineering and maintenance, warehouse and distribution, inventory management, and lean operations. This position will report directly to the SVP/GM, work closely with the Kendo leadership team and will serve as a member of the executive team.






  • Partner with the SVP/GM and provide strategic leadership for all operations at the BITE manufacturing facilities
  • Participate in C-level, executive and team meetings on a weekly basis
  • Ensure that all team members understand their objectives and that objectives are monitored by providing regular and constructive feedback
  • Proactively pursue strong positive relationships with employees while implementing an appropriate culture of accountability
  • Mentor and coach staff and provide them with development plans to continue their growth
  • Plan and manage budgets, recommend capex /expansion programs
  • Drive synergies and integrate culture and operations with Kendo and LVMH
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure that policies and procedures are being followed and ensures that the team member complaints and grievances are handled immediately


  • Develop strategic projects to identify and deliver key business improvements throughout operations from identifying initial potential opportunity, delivering the business case, gaining approval and delivering to agreed scope, budget and timescale
  • Align and execute operational plans to strategic plans
  • Develop meaningful key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics by which to better monitor, manage and improve operations
  • Work closely with the sales organization on demand planning/forecasting processes


  • Assess and evaluate all current production processes, make recommendations and execute ongoing changes that improve efficiencies and cost effectiveness
  • Cultivate a continuous improvement or related lean manufacturing culture across the organization
  • Supervise preparation of production schedules and plan ordering cycles to ensure production volumes can be met
  • Set up working systems which optimize packaging processes
  • Manage and oversee the maintenance and servicing of the company's production equipment to minimize down times while maximizing the efficiency and working life of all production equipment and machinery
  • Motivate staff through being a positive, encouraging yet non-compromising champion for continual improvement
  • Manage relationships with contract manufacturing companies


  • Play a hands-on role in managing all day-to-day operations working closely with key managers and team members
  • Implement and manage systems for the ordering or goods and raw materials that minimizes stockholding quantities yet is suitably timed to ensure uninterrupted production of all of the company's product lines in keeping with the market demand for each product
  • Continually evaluate costing and supply chain strategies and approaches against best practices
  • Ensure that operations are compliant with all provincial and national regulatory standards pertaining to health and safety, quality and employment standards
  • Ensure that quality processes and standards are compliant and continually enhanced
  • Evaluate staff related processes and procedures including work rules, job descriptions, responsibilities, training etc. with a view to both optimizing productivity and enhancing employee relations
  • Contribute to the overall executive management of the organization, as part of the senior management team
  • Work closely with finance to ensure expectations are aligned

Key Performance Deliverables

In light of the identified responsibilities, the following are specific deliverables that the position is designed to achieve:

  • Evaluate current KPIs: recommend appropriate changes to, implement, report regularly on and improve e.g. expenses, product costs, lead times, safety and client service
  • Instil continuous improvement and service delivery culture of excellence and accountability within operations
  • Team work - Effectiveness in working with the sales, finance and product development teams to achieve the organizational objectives
  • Customer satisfaction - delivery of a high-quality product that meets or exceeds customer requirements
  • Expense control - Meet or exceed approved budgets or forecasts
  • Employee Relations - turnover, grievances, productivity, satisfaction etc.
  • Reporting - On-time accurate monthly reports and forecasts


  • Minimum of 10 years' senior business and operations leadership experience within manufacturing
  • Experience with Cosmetics manufacturing preferred
  • Undergraduate university degree required. Engineering degree and/or MBA preferred
  • Proficiency with MRP systems
  • Experience directly managing P&L
  • Experience at a company known for rigor in operations / supply chain management, ideally a company known for lean manufacturing / operational excellence and that manages through policy deployment
  • Balance of operations (manufacturing, supply chain, inventory, planning etc.) and commercial (marketing, sales, product management, growth) experience, ideally having directly managed these functions on the route up to general management
  • Track record of implementation and execution utilizing Lean and Continuous Improvement concepts and strategies
  • Prior success of driving growth with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience working in a fast paced, growth-oriented business; proven track record of delivering results, comfortable with ambiguity
