Key Objective


Visual merchandising manager (VMM) is responsible for the aesthetic ambiance of retail & travel retail stores. VMM will develop and arrange the floor plan of a store and make changes based on sales data, seasons, and inventory for store location within the area.

This job contributes to company success through working closely with the store team, merchandising team and Regional VM team to ensure all product categories, in-store display and windows are displayed for maximum sales potential following company guidelines. 


Specific Responsibilities


Manage Window Display

VMM will review window order booklet and render all network windows for precise window kit ordering for all schemes and communicating the order to Regional and HQ team. Initiate Regional conference calls with VM and Contractors to review technical booklets for each scheme. Plan and execute window installation schedule with regional VM's for all stores. Challenge the quality of installation by Regional VM's and provide alternative solutions. Maintain collection of competitive window photos

Monitor Visual Merchandising Strategies of Competing Brands

VMM will constantly monitor what their employer's competition is doing visually. This involves visiting their store locations and experiencing their floor layout through the eyes of the customer

Strategize with Operational Team

VMM develops their merchandising strategies off of the physical inventory of their stores. They alter the floor plan based on what is selling well, what is on sale, and what is in season

Develop Training Programs

One component of any visual merchandising plan is developing a training program that helps store manager & CA's maintain the visual standards set forth in the VMM's strategy

Implement Visual Merchandising Strategies

VMM who is responsible for more than one store visit each location to help CAs rearrange their store to the latest visual standards. VMM also guides CAs through a training program that goes over the company's visual standards. VMM who work in-store tweak their strategy based on available inventory

Manage VM projects

VMM will collaborate with Visual Merchandising Director on creative visual aspects of Store take over, Pop up, Special Events, Store openings & Store Initiatives throughout working closely with Regional VM team, Store team and local contractors to deliver excellence of brand images. VMM is expected to manage the VM & VM project budget that are to be under control, updated and monitored. Collaboration with Operational team (Finance, Accounting, Logistics) as well as regularly evaluation of VM vendor partnerships to negotiate and challenge the related costs


Relevant Experience and Training

  • Degree holder in visual arts, interior design or similar arts related field
  • Minimum 5 years relevant working experience in similar capacity with retail industries

Relevant Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Able to work independently but also collaboratively with cross functional teams
  • Artistic sense with visual talent and a strong styling sensibility
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to creatively produce training materials
  • Flexible and be able to work under pressure
  • Frequent travelling to manage VM & VM projects in the area/market
  • Good Presentation skills and detail-oriented
  • Excellent command in written and spoken English
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
