Parfums Christian Dior Japon is part of the LVMH group, the largest luxury brand in the world. As a Retail Manager – Travel Retail Japan, you will be working with the leadership of the Senior Retail Manager and in partnership with APAC related team, this role is responsible for developing and executing retail operations strategies, ensuring operational excellence across our boutiques/counters. This role is responsible for leading a team to realize every operational aspect in a fast-paced environment and localizing global initiatives to fit the Japanese market.

This role is to oversee retail operations to lead by effective operations of marketing activities, new store and relocate opening projects, policy and procedure, workforce management, store payroll efficiencies and financial operations.

Reporting to the Travel Retail Senior Retail Manager Japan (based in Japan), the Retail Manager – Travel Retail Japan (based in Japan) will have to take care of:

 

Boutique/Counter Operations:

1) Policies and Procedures:

Develop, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across all boutiques/counters. Regularly review and update policies to reflect best practices and changes in the retail environment.

2) Operation Management:

Oversee key operational controls related to workforce management, store payroll management and financial payment operations. Build mechanism to monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed to address discrepancies and improve efficiency.

Project & Cross-functional Management:

1) Project Management

Lead and manage the rollout of various retail projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with APAC strategies and local adaptation. Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and integration of projects.

2) Localization of Global Initiatives

Adapt and localize APAC initiatives to align with Japanese market demands and cultural nuances. Work closely with global teams to ensure seamless integration of APAC strategies with local practices.

3) Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate effectively with various departments, including marketing, finance and HR, to support overall business goals. Build strong relationships with global partners to facilitate smooth communication and coordination.

Retail Management:

1) Retail Sales Development

Develop sales and manage sales performance by store to reach targets. Compile monthly sales report and analysis. Managing yearly costs/budget to maximize sell-out and business opportunities. Communicate trends, market intelligence and competition’s insight to management.

Working closely with Training Manager and Field Coach as well as Airport manager to elevate the sell out of the doors in charge

2) Uphold Brand/ Image & Product Merchandising Execution

Collaborate effectively with the VM team to uphold Dior Brand Image through timely planogram changes, strong execution of animations (i.e. HPPs/SPPs) and POS activities

Ensure retail team are on top of VM guidelines, store upkeep & maintenance

Propose and work closely with Area Manager on the animation strategy to ensure we uphold the visibility and exposure of Dior. Supervise and execute the promotional activities to deliver sales performance

Collaborate with Marketing to streamline product assortment for further sales optimization

3) Strengthen Partnership with Retailers

Ensure consistent follow-up with retailers on operational matters (monthly orders, shipment, GWPs, testers, animations plan etc.)

Grow existing and develop new business opportunities (i.e. tactical business initiatives, novelty launches, animation and real estate conquest etc.)

Proactively manage inventory to maximize sell in opportunities and sell-out performance alongside retailers

4) People Management

Motivate, evaluate and retain a dynamic sales team and build team spirit. Achieve retail and service excellence thru the successful implementation of IPOS and its related tools, dashboards and reports. Achieve BC productivity by leveraging on IPOS to set KPIs thru Counter Managers. Effectively guide Counter Managers to coach BCs’ performance. Collaborate with training team to ensure upskilling of BCs’ skillsets which is in line with each of their development plan (i.e. develop specialization and retail management expertise)

  • Experienced profile with at least 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong retail operations management experience
  • Demonstrated ability at leading strong retail operations with the ability to be strategic and ensure execution
  • Demonstrated experience in leading retail operations in a fast-paced and global environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project leading skills, with experience in executing and localizing global initiatives
  • The ability to think strategically, solution based and proactive with an affinity for number and logical thinking
  • Self-motivated with entrepreneur spirit
