LVMH Métiers d’Art has since its creation in 2015 invested in and brought together manufacturing facilities and skilled craftspeople across five continents, creating a corps de métier unique in the world. In 2023, LVMH Métiers d’Art has selected multidisciplinary French artist Josèfa Ntjam for an artist residency at Jade Group, a maker of high-end metal hardware.

Jade Group, which has workshops in France and Portugal, is recognized for its exceptional savoir-faire in the design and production of metal hardware and jewelry for luxury houses. Jade, which joined LVMH Métiers d’Art in 2021, will welcome Josèfa Ntjam for this year’s artist in residence program, which is overseen by Léa Chauvel-Lévy. During her residency, the artist will create works in metal using cutting-edge technologies, notably 3D metal printing.

A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Bourges, and the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Paris-Cergy in France, Josèfa Ntjam also studied at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. Her work weaves multiple narrative threads, drawing on historical events, scientific research and philosophical concepts, elevated by references to African mythology, ancestral rituals, religious symbols and science fiction. Her works have already joined prestigious private and public collections, including the Artothèque in Strasbourg and FRAC Alsace in France, as well as the BEI Institute in Luxembourg. Josèfa Ntjam is represented by the Nicoletti Gallery in London.

“Each year, the LVMH Métiers d’Art artist in residence program invites a different artist to work with an exceptional manufacturing facility. This year, we are delighted to welcome Josèfa Njtam at Jade. Josèfa has charmed us with her project, specifically her rich narrative, and immediately established a bond of trust with the artisans. We wish Josèfa and the Jade teams all the best for this new residency, and we are excited at the prospect of discovering the fruits of this partnership,” says Jean Baptiste Voisin, LVMH Chief Strategy Officer and Chairman of LVMH Métiers d’Art.
