LVMH, Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s leading luxury products Group, announces the appointment of Ozwald Boateng who joins Givenchy as Creative Director for Givenchy Homme. He will be responsible for the creation of the first men’s ready-to-wear line.
After training in Savile Row, the home of bespoke tailoring in London, Ozwald Boateng created his own brand and opened his first store off Savile Row in 1995.
In just a few years he has established his brand as a reference in bespoke tailoring, as well as men’s ready-to-wear. In 1996, he won the Best Male Designer Award at the Trophées de la Mode and in 2000, the Top Menswear Designer Prize at the British Fashion Awards.
Ozwald Boateng’s distinctive creations feature refined fabrics, electric colors, contrasting materials and trademark details such as angled pockets and concealed buttons. His collections, shown in Paris, reinterpret traditional tailoring with elegance and panache. Ozwald Boateng’s many clients include famous stars such as Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Samuel L. Jackson and Keanu Reeves.
Marianne Tesler, CEO of Givenchy Couture, stated: “I am delighted that Ozwald has joined Givenchy. His expertise in cutting and his original talent – which fuses the best of tradition with a taste for modernity – fit perfectly with the Givenchy Homme style.”
Ozwald Boateng said: “My challenge will be to reinvent the French gentleman. My inspiration will be Hubert Givenchy’s style and elegance.”
