Continuing its tradition of connecting Europe’s most romantic cities with Belmond’s iconic hotels, the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train will embark for the first time in May 2026 on a journey linking Paris and the Amalfi coast.

Dubbed Villeggiatura by Train, this new rail odyssey offers a rare immersion in Italy’s natural grandeur and cultural masterpieces, with an exclusive stop in Pompeii and a stay at Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast.

An enduring symbol of slow travel, the Simplon-Orient-Express invites guests on a three-night voyage, beginning with a Champagne welcome aboard its iconic Art Deco carriages. Featuring exceptional dining and the refined elegance of its Historic Cabins, Suites and Grand Suites, this new itinerary travels through Europe’s most romantic landscapes before reaching the dramatic cliffs of Ravello.

After an exclusive exploration of the ancient city of  Pompeii, guests arrive at Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, perched overlooking the Mediterranean coastline. Here they can revel in culinary experiences that celebrate the vibrant flavors of the Campania region, including open air cooking demonstrations, private boat tours along the coast, or calm contemplation in the palace’s hanging gardens.

“This first-ever voyage to the Amalfi coast embodies the essence of travel by Belmond – a celebration of refined art de vivre, heritage and emotion,” comments Pascal Deyrolle, General Manager of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

With this new destination, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express adds a new chapter to the history of legendary travel with a unique combination of exceptional heritage, exclusivity and enchantment.
