Against a décor of giant-sized iconic FENDI bags, FENDI Artistic Director of Couture and Womenswear Kim Jones presented his latest collection in Milan, inspired by a distinctive Italian elegance. “In Rome, there is an elegance in ease and not caring what anybody else thinks – that is real luxury. In this collection, I wanted to reflect that. It is about women who dress for themselves and their own lives, I see it with Silvia and Delfina all of the time. It’s not about the spectacle of being looked at but the reality of wearing and the confidence and chicness that comes with it. It’s not about being something but being someone,” he noted.
This freedom in dressing is joined by the luxury of comfort that permeates the collection. Kim Jones’ love of refined tailoring is emphasized in the reverse fold in a waistband to reveal the elegant construction of tailored trousers. Leather shorts and split skirts alternate with exquisitely fluid dresses crafted in floating silk or elegant knitwear. The cool color palette is set off with acidulate yellow or bright orange, contrasting with the soft silhouettes. A tangible bridge linking past and present, the Selleria stitch ties clothes and accessories together, celebrating Italian craftsmanship, featured in metal thread hardware on shoes or in jewelry designed by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Artistic Director of Jewelry. Second skin gloves add a colorful final touch to each look. And the Peekaboo, Baguette, Origami and First bags, plus the new Flip bag come in a plethora of sizes and materials, reflecting the creativity of Silvia Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, along with the multiplicity of FENDI women.
