Louis Vuitton and De Bethune have joined forces to present the third chapter in Louis Vuitton’s ongoing journey in the world of independent watchmaking, Louis Varius Project.

The fruit of close collaboration between Louis Vuitton Watches Director Jean Arnault and Denis Flageollet, Master Watchmaker and cofounder of De Bethune, the Louis Varius Projectfeatures a rare modern interpretation of the Sympathique clock, an 18th century marvel, along with a unique version of De Bethune’s iconic DB25 GMT Starry Varius.

Conceived by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1795, the Sympathique automatically synchronized a pocket watch with a more precise master clock. Two centuries later, Denis Flageollethas successfully revisited this historic feat, fusing continuity and innovation.

This project marks a new milestone in Louis Vuitton’s series of collaborations, enabling the reinvention of one of history’s most audacious horological creations with a resolutely contemporary approach.

“In these collaborations, we give the watchmakers the freedom to define their own vision of time—and their own vision
of Louis Vuitton. We bring an outside perspective, which allows us to support independent watchmakers, and in turn, they bring their own fresh perspective on Louis Vuitton. It’s a dynamic that brings a lot of creativity and new ideas to both sides,”says Jean Arnault, Director of Louis Vuitton Watches.
