From May 1 to October 4, 2026, the Design Museum in London will host the first major retrospective dedicated to NIGO, Artistic Director of Kenzo and one of the most influential creative figures of his generation. Titled NIGO: From Japan with Love, the exhibition looks back on more than three decades of work across fashion, music and design.
Tracing his journey from Tokyo to Paris, the exhibition explores how NIGO helped reshape the language of streetwear and forge lasting connections between popular culture and contemporary luxury. Influenced by vintage Americana, 1980s music culture and Japanese craftsmanship, his creative vision has left a lasting mark on generations of designers and Maisons alike.
The exhibition brings together more than 700 objects, many drawn from NIGO’s personal archives, including garments, collectibles, furniture, design pieces and previously unseen works. It also highlights a series of landmark collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Virgil Abloh, Nike and Louis Vuitton, reflecting NIGO’s broad influence on contemporary fashion and culture.
The exhibition’s final chapter turns to NIGO’s interest in traditional Japanese craftsmanship, from ceramics to the art of the tea ceremony. Through these practices, he explores a more personal and contemplative creative approach, rooted in the belief that the past remains a constant source of inspiration for contemporary creation.
