In line with the national Métiers d’Arts strategy presented by the French Ministries of the Economy and Culture, LVMH is consolidating its actions in favor of Métiers d’Excellence. This third edition of “SHOW ME Paris” is an opportunity to reveal the breadth of its training ecosystem, which includes nearly 360 programs worldwide, ensuring the transmission of know-how in leather goods, fashion design and client advisor. The Group also unveils the launch of the construction of the future Maison des Métiers d’Excellence – a Paris venue that will be both a showcase for the expertise of the LVMH group’s Maisons to the public, and a space for training, exchange and creativity for its talents. These announcements were shared with the 1,400 people in attendance at the Salle Pleyel on Tuesday, October 17.
The SHOW ME Paris 2023 edition highlighted the commitments of the LVMH Group and its Maisons, schools and partner associations to the intergenerational transmission of skilled trades.
On this occasion, the Group revealed its project for the future Maison des Métiers d’Excellence, through a model created by Hannah Lévesque, paper craftswoman and “builder of emotions”. Due to open in Paris at the end of 2025, this site will showcase the expertise of the Group’s Maisons, as well as provide a space for training, exchange, and creativity for its in-house talents. It will also have a café, a meeting space, a library, and hands-on craft workshops for the general public.
With 69 initial training programs and 288 continuing education programs around the world, LVMH Métiers d’Excellence spearheads the transmission of know-how, from secondary school onwards and throughout life.
“We were pioneers in the recognition of skilled trades with the creation of the Institut Métiers d’Excellence nearly 10 years ago. Today, our Métiers d’Excellence program makes us one of the world’s leading know-how transmission ecosystems. So we needed a physical location to match this ambition. LVMH remains a place of permanent learning, and we are working to build career paths throughout our employees’ professional lives,” says Chantal Gaemperle, Director of Human Resources & Synergies, LVMH.
Featuring testimonials, artistic performances and stories presented in a variety of tableaux, this third edition confirmed its success. It welcomed a host of speakers – including Bernard Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH, Chantal Gaemperle, LVMH Executive Vice President Human Resources and Synergies, Lambert Wilson, actor and director, Yohann Bourgeois, artist and Bénédicte Epinay, General Delegate of the Comité Colbert.
Clips from the web series “Fiers de nos Métiers d’Excellence” (Proud of our Professions of Excellence), commissioned by the French Ministry of Labor for “Pôle Emploi” (French employment agency) and directed by Emmanuelle Gaume, were shown at the ceremony. The series is part of the LVMH Métiers d’Excellence drive to communicate with as wide an audience as possible, especially those undergoing retraining. It also opens the doors of the Group’s workshops and boutiques to show the reality of its professions and the careers they offer, through the testimonies of apprentices and their tutors in different sectors of the Group’s activity.
Alongside the various on-stage testimonials, the event also featured never-before-heard stories told by actor Lambert Wilson, who lent his voice to three talents with unique trajectories within the Group’s expertise.
LVMH has also announced that it is extending its annual Métiers d’Excellence apprentice competition, “the MasterGaMEs”, internationally in 5 countries. This year, this exceptional competition will be sponsored by double world foil champion, and Olympic team champion, Enzo Lefort, supported by LVMH as part of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will offer all the Group’s apprentices the chance to reinterpret the codes of fencing, in line with their skills. The finest pieces will be presented in the LVMH Pavilion during the Paris 2024 Games.
The ceremony closed with the presentation of brooches, designed by jeweler Tiffany, to the third class of LVMH Virtuoso, and the award of Brevets d’Excellence to the French and Swiss apprentices completing their courses at the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence. For the first time this year, graduates of the Métiers d’Excellence Continuing Education Academy were presented with their diplomas, highlighting the rare professions of prototypist and leather goods source-developer.
Following the ceremony, an exhibition was presented to guests, enabling them to discover the key actions of the Métiers d’Excellence virtuous circle, as well as the initiatives for passing on these 280 skills to all generations.
Last but not least, the Group presented its first three nomadic “savoir-faire trunks”, designed to introduce craft universes to the general public at trade fairs and exhibitions. Each of these trunks offers an interactive and immersive learning experience in the fields of the Louis Vuitton leather goods, Tiffany jewelry and Hublot watchmaking brands.
