In her new collection for Givenchy, Sarah Burton explores the multiple facets of feminine archetypes.
The creative director deconstructs ready-to-wear codes to reveal skin and a sense of lightness and ease.
With a palette dominated by white, red and black, dress-up mingles with undress. The art of tailoring dialogues with corsetry. Between day and night, raw denim jeans are juxtaposed with structured bodysuits, while tailored jackets play hide-and-seek with bra tops. Alternating between demure and punk, the silhouettes bring opposites together. A white lace dress is paired with a black leather biker jacket. Sensual leather is styled with a white shirt, or traces curves in bustier gowns knotted over one shoulder.
Tulle and mesh evoke clouds of smoke, sheathing bodies in transparency, contrasting with theatrical oversized coats. A standout pink salmon look surprises with a breathtaking skirt amidst sharp, structured lines. Graphic jewelry cascades over skin, and mules rival one another in brilliance, adorned with fringing, bows or petals. Prominent accessories throughout the collection elevate the character of authentic female strength.
