Creative director Michael Rider plays with contrasts for his new collection.

A minimalist set and a powerful sound system provide a clean backdrop for a show punctuated with subtle touches of eccentricity.

“Putting on clothes, choosing a look, can change the course of a day. It can change the way we walk and what we feel.” For Michael Rider, this stylistic power forms a link between our inner selves and the outside world. The women’s and men’s silhouettes project confident self-assurance and a personal way of appropriatingclothing and accessories. Worn in layers, tied sweaters slip over suit jackets, and shirt collars are stacked on top of one another. Trousers flare around the ankles to reveal boots. Scarves form theatrical knots, while headwear acts as small acts of nonconformist rebellion.

The omnipresence of black is balanced by animal prints, incandescent red, and graphic squares. Long floral dresses create a new kind of camouflage, while leatherreveals its softness through enveloping jackets and trench coats. Around the neck swing talismans—necklaces of painted shells with a precious poetic quality.Feathers become tangled in hair ties. All these details hint at personality and give the silhouettes their singular character. When the atypical means having character,it captures the very essence of Celine
