Sometimes a simple brow wax can do a lot more than just make people look good! Since 2015, acclaimed brow expert Benefit Cosmetics has supported  empowerment for women and girls with its international Bold is Beautiful program. For an entire month, from May 1st through the 31st, the San Francisco beauty brand will donate 100% of proceeds from its brow bars to partner charities in all countries taking part in the program.

Started by Annie and Maggie Ford Danielson, the daughters and nieces of the co-founder sisters, this beauty for charity project gains momentum with each new edition. Active since the first year, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and France have in the past two years been joined by 15 more countries (Germany, Canada, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates). The project raised 4 million euros in 2017, double the amount generated the previous year.

Bold is Beautiful funds 37 partner charities that foster education, professional mentorship and access to wellness for women and girls. In France, the program partners are Forces Femmes and Belle & Bien. The first helps women over 45 return to the workforce and the second hosts beauty and makeup workshops in hospitals. Bold is Beautiful charity partners in the US include Girl Develop It, Girls Inc., StepUp and Dress For Success, which helps women thrive in work.
