A decade after their first meeting, Louis Vuitton once again engages with renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama for an encounter inspired by sincerity, iconoclasm, and above all a mutual appreciation of craft and excellence that transcend the commonplace. This new collaboration carries on Louis Vuitton’s long tradition of working with major artists and designers, including Jeff Koons and Takashi Murakami.

One of the 21st century’s pre-eminent artists, Yayoi Kusama rose from modest beginnings in the 1920s to transform her life with magical spirit and determination. A priestess of a hypnotic and colorful art, her signature is a repetition of motifs ad infinitum, notably dots. In 2012 she appropriated Louis Vuitton’s timeless trunk, hand-painting it with her emblematic polka dots. Continuing this dialogue, the new collaboration meticulously replicates these dots for an exuberant and intricate collection, drawing on the Maison’s renowned savoir-faire.

This shared quest for infinity through artisanal gestures has spawned creations for both men and women across ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, accessories, luggage, trunks and fragrances. Each piece is destined to become part of the story of future generations…stretching into infinity.

With two installments, the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama collections take distinct thematic directions, reflecting the artist’s motifs and motivations. Drop 1 revealed Painted Dots, Metal Dots, Infinity Dots and Psychedelic Flower collections. Drop 2 will be available from March 31, 2023.
