300 apprentices, 18 training tracks, 3 European countries: the LVMH Institut des Métiers d’Excellence is beginning an exciting new stage this year. On September 28, apprentices in the LVMH IME class of 2017/2018 began their training. The IME has had a year rich in development and events.
For its first class in 2014 the IME welcomed 28 apprentices. Today, nearly 300 trainees have joined this groundbreaking vocational training program. By offering work/study programs at LVMH Maisons in partnership with prestigious schools, the LVMH IME enables transmission of unique knowledge and skills to young generations and preserves an inestimable heritage. The IME and the 27 partner LVMH Maisons all share a commitment to preserving artisanal craftsmanship and creative and retail professions.
The LVMH Institut des Métiers d’Excellence is also expanding the European dimension of this vocational training program, adding new courses. Four new training tracks have been added to the 14 courses in the IME catalogue in Italy, Switzerland and France: Leather Goods (Pelletteria) in partnership with Polimoda in Italy; Jewelry (Oreficeria) with For.Al in Italy; and in France, the first Master in Design, Fashion and Creative Industries with the Sorbonne Nouvelle and École Duperré, and a new Client Advisor course (taught in English) with EIML Paris.
“The expansion of the LVMH Institut des Métiers d’Excellence underlines the importance LVMH attaches to transmission of savoir-faire and to the unique skills required in the luxury industry,” said Chantal Gaemperle, LVMH Group Executive Vice President Human Resources & Synergies.
In conjunction with the start of the new school year, an exhibition has been organized to present work by students from previous years.
