Rihanna enchants Versailles in Dior

Dior has unveiled the fourth installment in the Secret Garden saga, which features Raf Simons’ creations in the enigmatic and magical décor of the Château de Versailles. Shot by Steven Klein, the film stars Dior ambassador Rihanna, who reveals the nocturnal secrets of Versailles.

Wearing looks from the Esprit Dior collection presented in Tokyo in December 2014, Rihanna sweeps, dances and pirouettes through the halls of a Versailles cloaked in mystery, illuminated only by moonbeams. This is the fourth episode of Dior’s Secret Garden saga, which each year unveils a new facet of the former royal palace around one of the House’s collections.

A longtime friend of Dior, Rihanna is now a brand ambassador. The most viewed artist on YouTube and record-holder for online music sales, Rihanna has frequently been decked out in Dior during her career. On June 2, 2014 she received the Fashion Icon Award from the prestigious Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in recognition of her influence on contemporary fashion. Raf Simons received the International Award from the CFDA the same evening for his creations at Dior.

The Secret Garden films embody Dior’s deep attachment to Versailles. The château provided inspiration for many silhouettes created by Monsieur Dior, including Versailles, Trianon, Bal à Trianon, or Fête à Trianon. The celebrated ad for J’adore perfume with Charlize Theron was shot in the Hall of Mirrors, and Dior presented its 60th anniversary collection in the Versailles Orangerie. Dior is currently funding renovation of the Queen’s House and the Warming Room, as well as the Anish Kapoor exhibition in the château gardens from June 9 to November 1, 2015.
