My Métier d’Excellence   

I’ve been a sales advisor at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris since 2013. I grew up in a family of seamstresses – both my mother and grandmother were seamstresses. I’ve always loved beautiful things and the contact with beautifully made clothes. And at Le Bon Marché I’m certainly surrounded by exceptional creations! This is like a second family for me here, I really enjoy being with all our teams and I know my customers very well.  

The most important thing you need for this métier  

Generosity and audacity. You have to like people to create a connection with them around confidence, and you need to be bold to suggest clothes to customers that they might never have thought of wearing.  

The nicest compliment I ever received   

“Thank you, this was wonderful, I’ll definitely be back!” I also love it when people thank me for having urged them to dare trying on new outfits that let them express themselves and show how great they can look. I see it as kind of a personal victory. It’s only possible if you establish a connection with them by taking time to talk to them, to understand who they are and what they’re looking for.  

My advice for someone starting out in this profession 

Don’t be afraid to take risks. You have to accept that you might not find the perfect look for a customer on the first try, but the risk is worth it. I’d also say “be warm and generous”, because to be good in this métier it’s essential to really give something of yourself.
