Position

Machine Operator - Engraving/Etching is responsible for contributing to the completion of Client Owned Merchandise (COM) and stock repair orders by completing technical processes requiring the use of certain equipment.  Specifically, Machine Operator-Engraving-Etching is responsible for overseeing the completion of laser hallmark, embossing, standard engraving and etching.  Machine Operator-Engraving-Etching is required to maintain this equipment as needed and report any issues to management.  Machine Operator-Engraving-Etching is responsible for providing training and collaboration with local team members as well as global markets when needed. Machine Operator-Engraving-Etching is responsible to learn and participate in all washout techniques and processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Quality: Understand and follow written repair instructions and seek clarification when needed; inspect all assigned orders for additional defects and note, repair or escalate as appropriate.
  • Productivity:  Meet or exceed established productivity standards.
  • Oversee daily workflow:  Ensure orders are completed by requested date.
  • Contribute to repair orders by completing specific technical processes; laser, machine engraving, embossing  various items using different techniques if applicable.
  • Maintain equipment as needed and act as owner for any issues, communicate issues to management.
  • Knowledge and development:  Develop deep Tiffany & Co. product knowledge, including but not limited to, designers, collections, materials, methods of manufacture and repair techniques.
  • Proactively seek and apply new skills and techniques that result in quality, safety or productivity improvements.
  • Proactively share skills and techniques with coworkers; actively collaborate with coworkers, administration and management in problem solving and process improvement.
  • Learn and participate in all washout techniques and processes including proper care and handling for specialty stones, jewelry, holloware, etc.
  • Occupational health and safety:  Comply with all health and safety requirements including personal protective equipment, hazardous material handling and disposal, machine guarding, ergonomics, etc.
  • Maintain a safe workstation free from risks.
  • Immediately report any safety incidents, including "near misses" to management.
  • Service Center support:  Provide assistance as needed throughout the center; perform alternate craft work as needed and as capable; assist administration with workflow management; participate in special projects.
  • Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the workshop; assist in cleaning and maintaining common areas and equipment; report any worn, broken or unsafe tools, equipment and supplies; identify and report any gaps in workshop infrastructure
  • Review Morning AM report, as well as Mid-Day report to foresee incoming workloads.
  • New Jewelry Development stamping /ME/Embossing
  • Provide Global support communication of new work ideas.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Successful completion of a Tiffany & Co. personalization skill test
  • Verbal and written English language skills
  • Ability to meet the physical, cognitive and work environment requirements as outlined below

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in all types of embossing including leather
  • Experience with machine engraving as well as laser stamping using  M20/IS400/Rofin
  • Technical school diploma
  • Craft or technical course work (e.g. trade association training seminar)
  • Ability to operate machinery

The hiring range for this position ranges from $23 - $31/hr. The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidates’ relevant skills and experience.
