Job Summary

Work together with the Retail VP to develop the strategic plan and priorities to drive consumer desire and ensure sustainable growth for the retail business. Identify the short-term/ mid-term impactful business opportunities to win against competition and strategic projects through strong data analysis, market intelligence, business inferences and fact-based approach.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Planning

  • Drive and validate strategy execution to embed into the annual operating plan and market plans, and keep openness about progress and potential roadblocks;
  • Develop financial and quantitative models relevant to strategy planning (e.g., business simulation, revenue/ profit projection, business KPI realization, and etc.);
  • Hold or support other regular and ad-hoc strategic planning activities (e.g., market visits, business reviews, workshops, individual briefings, and etc.);
  • Develop strategic presentations and business planning documents;
  • Manage the annual budget planning and spending for the Big Retail department;

 

Market Intelligence

  • Ensure up-to-date overview of market, competition, technical, application and societal developments from within and outside the industry in China;
  • Lead the development of data sources and central data repository of market and competitor intelligence;
  • Identify key markets developments and ensure implications are considered in planning and decision-making;
  • Synthesize and apply intelligence from consumer research and market insights into strategy planning with qualitative and quantitative data inputs;

 

Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain the retail key KPI database, and track and report performance KPIs with regular cadence with the leadership;
  • Supervise and support data analysis/ reporting (regular and ad hoc) to meet cross-functional requirements;
  • Collect and synthesize data from existing systems and sources;
  • Translate data and analysis of commercial results into concrete implications and recommendations and follow up with related action plans;
  • Support special data analysis needs for regions as required.

 

Project Management

  • Work out yearly new project plan in terms of retail strategy demand;
  • Lead or participate in related strategic and cross-functional projects;
  • Drive or work with external consulting agencies in specific topical projects.

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead the team to achieve the business results including but not limited to recruiting, coaching, retaining, and building team capacity for business needs.

 

  • Other tasked as assigned by the Retail VP

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of overall experience with preferably a combination of 3+ years tenure in top-tier strategy consulting firm and corporate experience in retail or beauty related;
  • Bachelor or above degree in Business, Science or Engineering with excellent academic track record;
  • Solid business sense and critical-thinking ability – able to solve problems using both conventional judgment and ad-hoc analysis;
  • Possesses strong statistics knowledge and advanced analytic skills – both quantitative (e.g., financial modelling, data analysis) and qualitative (e.g., market trends, competitor analysis)
  • Proven conceptual, analytical and interpersonal skills with solid project management experience, adaptable to changes and challenges. Consistent record of building significant impact in a multinational organization;
  • Good leadership skill, be able to coach the team and develop team members to next levels;
  • Very strong communication skills – written and spoken English and Chinese.
