Presented in collaboration with Art Basel Paris at the Maison Guerlain from October 16 through November 12, this deep dive into the art of South Korea brings together the striking perspectives of multiple generations of artists.
Curated by Hervé Mikaeloff, the exhibition features works by 17 artists whose diverse techniques and visions come together for a nuanced overview of contemporary art in South Korea. Video art pioneer Nam June Paik and others fuse East and West, transforming an inward gaze into a never-ending technological quest. Lee Bul’s cyborgs combine feminine forms and robotic elements, while Dalle and Biole Park Chae capture the transient beauty of perfume through fabric and bamboo an original work created specially for the exhibition.
Transcending simple visual engagement, the multi-sensory exhibition also proposes an olfactory exploration. Scents meld with artworks, creating links with iconic Guerlain fragrances and underlining the deep relationship between memory and imagination.
“Good Morning Korea” is an invitation to explore the multi-faceted nature of Korean society, reflecting the country’s discreet elegance and boundless creativity.
This celebration of art, innovation and the enduring power of memory pays tribute to the indelible mark of South Korea on the global art scene.
