Blending craftsmanship, culture, and design, CASA Loewe Shanghai embodies the Spanish Maison’s artistic vision: a living dialogue between art and fashion.
Conceived as a meeting place for creativity and savoir-faire, the CASA Loewe concept has taken root in the world’s great cultural capitals, from London to Seoul and Tokyo. Each location draws inspiration from its surroundings while expressing the essence of Loewe: an identity deeply anchored in Spanish craftsmanship and a global perspective on art and design.
CASA Loewe Shanghai, the Maison’s largest flagship in Asia, marks a new chapter in this dialogue. More than a boutique, this living environment dedicated to creativity offers a complete immersion into the Loewe universe where modernity meets tradition, and craftsmanship becomes a language of culture.
The architecture itself captures this balance. The building’s golden façade, composed of 35,536 handcrafted ceramic tiles produced by Studio Cumella in Barcelona, is a work of art in its own right. Each tile, shaped and enameled by hand using materials sourced from the mountains of eastern Spain, reflects light in subtle ripples, transforming the surface into a dynamic, living texture. This tactile, shimmering exterior – an echo of Loewe’s leather craft – mirrors Shanghai’s Jing’an Temple nearby, uniting Spanish artisanal heritage with the cultural landscape of the city.
Inside, the space unfolds over nearly 700 square meters, offering an atmosphere both contemporary and intimate. Marble, brass, oak, and glass are paired with warm hues of gold, orange, and green to create an environment that feels as much like a home as an art gallery. Designed around the idea of a "collector’s house", CASA Loewe Shanghai brings together furniture, art, and fashion in perfect harmony. Pieces such as Gerrit Thomas Rietveld’s Utrecht armchairs and Axel Vervoordt’s sculptural stone tables complement a selection of works by contemporary artists and artisans from around the world: ceramic creations by British artist John Ward, bamboo sculptures by Japanese artisan Hafu Matsumoto, and an oak vessel by Ernst Gamperl, winner of the inaugural Loewe Foundation Craft Prize – one of the world’s leading platforms celebrating contemporary craft – in 2017. Through this curatorial approach, Loewe transforms retail into an artistic experience where craftsmanship comes alive, and every object tells a story.
CASA Loewe Shanghai stands as a synthesis of the Maison’s values: a deep respect for material, passion for artistry, and openness to cultural exchange. It invites visitors to reshape their definition of what a retail space can be and experience Loewe not as a brand, but as a creative ecosystem that connects artisanship and emotion.
