Loro Piana is spotlighting its Pecora Nera® wool, a rare fiber with natural dark tones now featured in new creations for the Fall-Winter 2024-2025 season.
Sourced from the farm of Fiona Gardner in New Zealand, the wool is the fruit of a unique partnership between Loro Piana and a pioneering sheep breeder. Loro Piana and Fiona Gardner have worked closely together since the early 2000s to enhance the quality and intensity of the natural colors of this exceptional wool.
Loro Piana has purchased the Gardner family’s dark wool in its entirety since 2003, forging a long-lasting relationship rooted in confidence. Each lot presents a unique palette of colors in natural tones, demanding exceptional skill to transform the wool. For the coming season Loro Piana is presenting a remarkable innovation, a fabric woven from a three-ply yarn, each in different natural shades, lending the fabric a distinctive three-dimensional effect.
Loro Piana has innovated further with the introduction of traceability for Pecora Nera® wool since January 2025. Thanks to collaboration with the Aura Blockchain Consortium, each garment from the Spring-Summer 2025 collection will be accompanied by a digital certificate, enabling customers to trace the journey of the wool from farm to finished garment by scanning the attached QR code.
This new step towards greater transparency reflects Loro Piana’s commitment to innovation and durability while preserving its exceptional artisanal savoir-faire.
