LVMH Métiers d'Art opened the doors to its Paris showroom on July 8th and 9th for ‘Material Days’, an exclusive invitation to experience the remarkable breadth and depth of craft that defines LVMH Métiers d’Art.
The exhibition welcomed visitors across three levels for a journey to discover the extraordinary raw materials and unique know-how brought together within LVMH Métiers d’Art. From raw materials to finished products, the exhibition showcases the artisanal excellence and innovation at partner LVMH Maisons.
Entitled Craftsmanship Unveiled, the ground floor section celebrates the beauty of materials through columns adorned with rare leathers alongside mannequins showcasing fabrics, metals and intricate patterns. This initial immersion sets the stage for the exhibition’s sensorial itinerary.
The basement level features the Library of Materials, inviting visitors into a ‘Crafts Galaxy”. The library is a poetic and tactile encounter with the natural resources and exquisite materials employed to craft emblematic pieces at different LVMH Maisons.
Culminating the exhibtion beneath the iconic glass roof designed by the Eiffel Studio, the Gilded Artisanship floor showcases the full spectrum of materials in a dazzling display of technical virtuosity and creativity.
Two artistic installations visible from the street further enhance the experience, one crafted from upcycled discarded leather pieces, the other composed of hands adorned with jewels and precious materials. These installations highlight the innovative spirit and commitment to sustainability that drive LVMH Métiers d’Art.
During their journey, visitors also encounter a series of impressive African masks developed by the Jafuta Foundation in Zimbabwe, a partner of the LVMH Group. This cultural collaboration is emblematic of LVMH’s commitment to supporting the sustainable development of local farming systems.
‘Material Days’ spotlights key companies under the LVMH Métiers d'Art umbrella, including tanneries Masoni and Roux, exotic leather specialists Heng Long and Verdeveleno, metal components designers Monde and Jade Groupe, fabric makers Kuroki and Hosoo, as well as the Robans manufacturing facility.
The event reaffirms LVMH’s longstanding commitment to preserving and passing on the exceptional savoir-faire that is a cornerstone of luxury that blends sustainability and incomparable creativity.
