For her first collection, the new creative director chose the motto “Meno io, più noi” – “Less I, More Us” – a tribute to the collective creativity that characterizes the five Fendi sisters. Women’s and men’s silhouettes walked together, sharing a wardrobe designed for a life full of movement, emotion and desire.
Against a minimalist showspace, the depth of black dominated throughout the collection. A distinctive sensuality took shape behind straightforward appearances. From fluid slip dresses and knee-highs that frame the ankle, to meters of lace that caress the skin, each look accentuated the body. Recurring white collars worn like a necklace drew the eye to a single detail. Animal prints and references to military imagery offset a restrained color palette. Volumes and embroideries elevated furs. Dubbed “Echo of Love”, a new FENDI atelier enables the creation of contemporary pieces steeped in memories from remodeled fur.
With her debut show, Maria Grazia Chiuri connects FENDI’s vision of fashion with two prominent Italian artists. The first collaboration has given rise to a new limited edition of jewelry designed in the early 1970s by Mirella Bentivoglio. The multidisciplinary artist, who passed away in 2017, saw them as creations of visual poetry rather than simple jewels. The second collaboration, with SAGG Napoli, underscores a spirit of intergenerational sisterhood. The artist and competitive archer proposes a contemporary take on femininity. Printed on football scarves, her engaged statements – such as “Rooted but not stuck” – resonate with the history of FENDI, whose roots spring from powerful values of elegance and craftsmanship that have never remained static.
