Under a majestic silk scarf canopy over the courtyard at Celine’s 16 rue Vivienne headquarters, the House’s new creative director presented men’s and women’s silhouettes.
In a letter distributed before the show, Michael Rider said “Celine stands for quality, for timelessness and for style.” These ideals are translated into attitudes embodied by the looks. Popping blues and reds punctuated black, white and beige. Labels morphed into a dress and abundant accessories featured scarves, layered jewelry, chains and a new gilded belt buckle play on Celine’s codes and heritage.
“I’ve always loved the idea of clothing that lives on, that becomes a part of the wearer’s life, that may capture a moment in time but also speaks to years and years of gestures and occasions and change, of the past, the present and the future, of memories, of usefulness and of fantasy, of life really,” added Michael Rider. The exquisitely elegant collection ushers in a new era for Celine.
