Givenchy presents its Summer 2027 womenswear collection by Sarah Burton.
"I wanted a sense of balance and clarity. A wardrobe to bring precision and simplicity to dressing as we speed through the multiple perspectives and perpetual motion of all our lives," says the Creative Director.
The first look, a black leather dress with zippers revealing a vivid acid-yellow lining, establishes a dialogue between light and shadow, protection and exposure. Archetypes are disrupted throughout the collection, stripping back the components of the wardrobe: tailored jackets and cigarette trousers are sliced, slashed and twisted, asymmetry shifts established silhouettes, and cocoon shirts and oversized trenches contrast with exposed shoulders, knitted bras, biker pieces and suspended dresses.
A knitted vest paired with perfect jeans expresses instinct, while unexpected details introduce playfulness: a mirrored makeup compact becomes the Powder Puff belt, pom-poms appear on heeled shoes, and bows shape satin. Acid yellow, red, vivid green and electric blue punctuate a palette grounded in black, navy and white. Leather and wool, denim, knit and silk create contrasting surfaces, while jewellery extends into space, with fabric suspended from arabesques of wire.
The collection moves from coats and suits to expressive eveningwear. Double-breasted tailoring, reverse-lapel jackets and pattern-piece trousers are seen beside leopard lace, fringed and embroidered dresses, ruffles and mobile forms – a collection built on the transformation of familiar garments and the interplay of structure, spontaneity and sensuality.
