Seven Belmond properties recognized by The World’s 50 Best Hotels

From Rio de Janeiro to Venice, and from Cape Town to Cusco, seven Belmond properties feature among the 100 hotels recognized in the 2025 edition of The World’s 50 Best Hotels. Copacabana Palace ranks 11th worldwide, while Maroma, on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, comes in at No. 33. Five other Belmond properties also feature on the expanded list, which this year brings together 100 hotels across six continents for the first time.

Copacabana Palace also received two additional honors: Best Hotel in South America and the Lavazza Highest New Entry Award, recognizing its first appearance in the Top 50. Overlooking Copacabana Beach, the landmark hotel has long been one of the defining properties in the portfolio. 

The seven properties reflect the breadth of Belmond’s destinations, from historic hotels in major cities to retreats set among some of the world’s most remarkable landscapes. In Venice, Hotel Cipriani is the city’s highest-ranked hotel. In Cape Town, Mount Nelson represents Africa on the list, while Hotel das Cataratas sits at the gateway to Brazil’s Iguazú Falls. Splendido in Portofino and Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco complete the selection.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels ranking is based on votes from more than 800 independent experts in the international hospitality industry, including hoteliers, journalists, educators and experienced travelers.
