Moonlight on a garden in spring and nocturnal visions inspired the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2018 haute couture collection, the first by Creative Director Clare Waight Keller.
Dubbed “Mystères d’un Jardin de Nuit”, or Mysteries of a Garden at Night, the debut haute couture collection by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy evoked the gleam of moonlight on a garden in spring. Shimmering in a diaphanous and crystalline light, the predominantly black and white creations expressed a modern approach to what is precious.
Technical expertise and plays of light elevated the materials in the collection, which oscillated between ethereal gowns and angular, tailored pieces in matte tones. Pleated muslin, exquisite ruffles and lace were embellished with feathers and pearls. The movement of light, scintillating tulle dresses tempered a pink latex skirt or salmon latex coat.
Clare Waight Keller brought fresh enthusiasm to the Maison with four bespoke men’s looks as well, a manifesto for crossover fashion.
