Following his arrival as Artistic Director of Celine, Hedi Slimane has unveiled his first perfume collection for the Maison. Faithful to the tradition of couturier parfumeur, Hedi Slimane has crafted 11 very personal fragrances that capture his signature stylistic codes.
The new Celine collection of perfumes embodies the unique savoir-faire of French high perfumery with a distinctive identity. Celine Artistic Director Hedi Slimane reconnects with an intimately personal universe, distilling reminiscences of places, moments and people dear to him. The name and composition of each perfume captures a memory that has remained with the couturier.
The inspirations written down in Hedi Slimane’s olfactory journal become 11 trails with names that evoke Parisian sophistication, including Parade, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Dans Paris and Cologne Française. The essence of French classicism is challenged by the gender fluid style of a collection where feminine and masculine notes respond to one another and harmonize.
The 11 creations are linked by the same singular olfactory imprint, a powdery note prized by the couturier since his debuts as a perfumeur. This signature is nuanced in each fragrance with compositions elevated by complex and sophisticated accords, eschewing the fashion for short compositions.
Hedi Slimane also designed the bottle with a modernist spirit, creating a rectangular flacon in keeping with the grand tradition of French glassmaking.
Nine of the 11 perfumes will be available from the end of October at the first Celine Haute Parfumerie boutique at 390, rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. The entire collection will be available exclusively at Celine boutiques.
