Held every summer since 1970, the Rencontres de la Photographie festival in Arles promotes the best of photography from around the world and offers a springboard for contemporary creative talent. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the event, Louis Vuitton is publishing a collector’s edition of its Arles City Guide, paying tribute to the city, its people, and photography. Louis Vuitton is also hosting a pop-up bookstore during the festival at a wine bar, featuring special events and book signings.

With a hundred titles, Éditions Louis Vuitton spotlights collections that center on travel, art and fashion, spanning city guides, sketchbooks, photo albums, art books and literary narratives. For 20 years Louis Vuitton City Guides have explored the world’s leading metropolises, spotting trends, offering insider tips and tracking changes that are transforming bustling cities. The collection takes an offbeat look at fashion, design, contemporary art, food and culture in 30 cities. From Paris to New York and London to Tokyo, authors and special guests from all walks of life share their experiences at beautiful hotels, the best restaurants, quirky fashion shops and famous historic places.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles, the Louis Vuitton City Guide returns to Arles with a collector’s edition, paying tribute to the Camargue city and its world-famous festival. The guide gives pride of place to photography with a previously unpublished portfolio by the Tendance Floue collective, portraits of Arlésiens by Olivier Metzger, along with iconic photographs of the city by Lucien Clergue, Raymond Depardon, André Kertész, Peter Lindbergh and Helmut Newton. The guide is on sale in bookstores, and also available free from the App Store during the festival.

In addition to this special collector’s edition, Éditions Louis Vuitton is kicking off the summer season with a celebration of the south of France, publishing two new photography books in its Fashion Eye collection. In Fashion Eye French Riviera, archive photos by American cult photographer Slim Aarons reveal a joyous, sun-drenched ambiance. And in Fashion Eye Saint-Tropez, the young Finnish photographer Osma Harvilahti proposes an offbeat, contemporary look at Saint-Tropez.

Because travel is also about a distinctive art de vivre, Éditions Louis Vuitton is opening a pop-up bookstore during the festival at the wine bar Le Buste et l’Oreille in the center of Arles, featuring special events and signing sessions with authors and photographers.
